There are a few hoops to jump through before .NYC happens. The .NYC application has to go through the long process at ICANN. Also, ICANN’s rules say that trademark and brand owners get to reserve their names before anyone else, and that will take several months. Only after all that’s done can we offer .NYC names to ordinary New Yorkers.

The bottom line: We estimate that .NYC will go live in mid-2010 along with all the other new top-level domains.
